Becoming

Deuteronomy 27
9 Then Moses and the priests, the Levites, spoke to all Israel, saying, "Take heed and listen, O Israel: This day you have become the people of the LORD your God.
10 "Therefore you shall obey the voice of the LORD your God, and observe His commandments and His statutes which I command you today."

Leaving Egypt where the people of God were slaves for 400 years they had a slave mentality. These poor people had a hard time trusting God.
The next generation spent 40 years in the wilderness learning to trust this Awesome God who delivered them out of the hand of Pharoah. During this 40 year time period they learned to Trust God as he led them in the desert. some of the lessons were hard, but little by little they became the people of God.
When we turn from our sins toward Jesus and place our faith in Him "old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17
Our sins are seperated from us as far as the east is from the west in an instant.
Spiritual transformation, that is reflected in our physical life, takes time. Don't be discouraged when you realize you have a long way to go. Just rejoice that God has brought you this far and know that He will not stop working with you to bring you into the very image of Jesus.

Hebrews 12
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

1 Corinthians 9
24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

Philippians 3
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

"A pharisee is hard on others and easy on himself,
but a spiritual man is easy on others and hard on himself."
